Emily Gatchell, MA, CAGS

Emily Gatchell is a Special Education Consultant with 20+ years of experience working with and for students with disabilities. Emily has a Masters and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in School Psychology from Tufts University, and has achieved certifications as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and Special Education Administrator in the state of Massachusetts. 

Emily has a strong understanding of diverse learning profiles. She knows how evaluations inform educational programming and how services can be implemented to support effective progress. Emily is well versed on state and federal regulations and how they may guide team decisions.

Emily volunteers as a Special Education Parent Surrogate and understands the special education process from a parent/guardian perspective. Emily completed the Parent Consultant Training Institute through the Federation for Children with Special Needs and is an approved provider for these services.

GES applies a collaborative, data-driven, child centered, problem solving approach when addressing the educational needs of students. GES incorporates a multi-faceted perspective when meeting student needs; allowing clients to build trust in the special education team process and the student's educational program.  GES is committed to providing meaningful and quality consultation which enables all stakeholders to feel heard and acknowledged.

GES understands how disabilities can  impact learning, achievement, social-emotional development and accessing the life of school. GES provides assistance to clients regardless of where students may be on the special education continuum; striving to better the educational experience for students 2.9-22 years of age. 

 Consultation supports  parents and guardians, professionals completing evaluations and school teams and systems. Services can be customized on an as needed basis and may include:

• Review and analysis of evaluations and relevant documentation
• Suggestions for IEP response and building comprehensive educational programs
• Education regarding special education process, individual student profiles and disability related topics
• Attendance at school or clinic based meetings 
• School/Program Observations

Consult services can be short-term and/or long-term. Consultation can be consistent or intermittent during a student’s school career.
